History
The WFA today is one of the Northwest's leading fencing clubs. We opened our current location in 2017. The company was started by Kevin Mar and Serge Timacheff; Kevin is a coach and International Fencing Federation (FIE) referee, and Serge works with the FIE as a photojournalist and press officer. Both have been active national and international fencers, and the club has grown to about 100 members of all ages and abilities. In 2018, Atilio Tass joined the club as head coach. A two-time Olympic saber fencer from Argentina, Coach Tass also was a finals-level Olympic referee as well as the head fencing coach at Brown University for 18 years. In the summer of 2018, the WFA took five gold medals at the USA Fencing National Championships in St. Louis, including several youth/teen fencers and a veteran 70+ fencer. The club welcomes people of all ages and abilities to try fencing -- truly, a lifelong sport!
