History
The IMA was established in 1967 on campus to provide students, faculty and staff an outlet for recreation and sports. The IMA and the Department of Recreational Sports Programs has continued to offer a broad array of fitness, recreation, sports and leisure activities on campus as trends have dictated. The IMA went through an expansion and remodel in 2001-2003 to better serve the growing population on campus.
Specialties
The Intramural Activities (IMA) Building is the campus sports and fitness center at the University of Washington. The Department of Recreational Sports Programs strives to provide a variety of facilities, equipment, programs, and experiences which contribute to the health, well-being, fitness and leisure interests of UW faculty, staff and students. The IMA is open to currently enrolled UW Seattle Campus students and UW Faculty/Staff with a current IMA Membership. Amenities Include: Treadmills, Ellipticals, Bikes & Stair Climbers Machine & Free Weights Lap Swimming Pool Basketball, Volleyball & Badminton Courts Racquetball, Handball, Squash & Tennis Courts Mat Rooms & Studios Saunas Indoor track Cycling & TRX Studios Locker Rooms Indoor Climbing Center Fitness & Sport Classes Intramural Program Club Sports Program Personal Training Archery Rollerskating
