Puesta del Sol -- formerly known by its English name, Sunset Elementary -- is the Bellevue School District's elementary-level Spanish-immersion school. Students receive the majority of their learning in Spanish, with English reading and language added in the second grade, with the goal of becoming bilingual. Students who continue in the Spanish-immersion program can continue at Tillicum Middle School and Newport High School. There are prerequisites to admission to Puesta del Sol; if there are more applicants than space, admission is determined by lottery. Parent meetings for admission begin mid-year. Activities at Puesta del Sol have included clubs for math, science, chess and running.
