Founded in 1975, the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority is a community development authority that works to improve public safety, affordable housing, transportation, marketing, business development and parking facilities. It owns and manages nine neighborhood properties that include more than 400 affordable housing units for over 700 residents. The agency also owns and manages nearly 200,000 square feet of commercial space in the Chinatown International District. It offers a congregate nutrition program that provides lunch to seniors. The agency operates Denise Louie Education Center, which is a child care center that provides multicultural early childhood education services.
