The Richland Police Department, established in 1959, maintains social order and peace and provides law enforcement services. It offers services for the protection of residents lives and property, as well as deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. The department supports the Explorer Program, which is a worksite-based program for youths between the ages of 14 and 20. The Richland Police Department has a code enforcement unit that addresses public health and safety issues related to garbage, removal of vegetation, zoning, dangerous buildings, housing and inoperable vehicles on private property. Located in Richland, Wash., it offers a variety of services that include crime analysis, auto releases, crime scene training, gun registration, and traffic and parking law enforcement.
