The Clover Park School District has a student enrollment of 11,681 and is the one of the top five largest public school districts in Pierce County, 26th largest in the state. It features 17 elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools, an alternative school and four other schools/services. Thirty percent of the CPSD students live on the Joint Base Lewis-McChord communities nearby. The student enrollment is ethnically diverse, with 19 percent Hispanic, 18 percent African American, six percent Asian American and six percent multiracial. More than half the student-body is non-caucasian. In the spring of 2009, students in grades 3-8 and high school sophomores through 10 took the Washington Assessment of Student Learning and more than 90 percent of 10th graders met or exceeded standard in WAS writing, which is higher than the state average, according to Clover Park 2009-10 annual report. The report also revealed general improvement across other subjects like match and reading.
