History
Founder Arturo Garcia first opened Moctezuma's back in 1978 on South Tacoma Way, newly arrived to the United States and filled with a passion for bringing the Mexican food he loved to an American audience. With pride and a burning desire to succeed, he was determined to introduce something bold and new to Washington dining. Now, more than 35 years later, son Bernie Garcia carries on that same dream and the restaurants the Garcia's have so proudly established have each become synonymous with quality, flavor and above all, experience. Each dish at Moctezuma's is distinctly prepared, many from old family recipes, and always with an eye toward freshness and presentation.
