Mattson Middle School provides learning opportunities to more than 580 students in grades seven and eight. Its academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as English, reading, math, music, science and social studies. The school also offers various special programs, including special education, transitional bilingual, reduced-price meals and migrant education. It has a team of counselors that offers a variety of support groups and is responsible for student placement, monitoring grades, special education involvement, honors screening, protective service referrals, crisis intervention, and staff consultations and conflict. The school s library houses a collection of more than 10,000 books, over 10 magazine titles, two local newspapers and 30 computers. In addition, it provides an online list of accelerated reader quizzes. The school is a part of the Kent School District and is located in Covington, Wash.
