History
The museum was founded by George and Arlene Wagner, who donated their large collection of nutcrackers and the building to the museum. It is now a non-profit 501c3 organization. Since the opening of the museum there have been other collections added to the museum, making it the largest collection of nutcrackers in the world.
Specialties
The largest collection of nutcrackers in the world can be seen in the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum, which shows over 7,000 items dating back to Roman times. Visitors are amazed at man's ingenuity in creating a device to open the hard shell of a nut.
