The Redmond-based Lake Washington School District operates seven public schools in Sammamish and largely serves students in the northern part of the city.
Those schools are: Eastlake High School, Inglewood Jr. High School, Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary, Rachel Carson Elementary, Christa McAuliffe Elementary, Margaret Mead Elementary and Samantha Smith Elementary.
In total, the district has 24,560 students. While a five-member board sets policy, the superintendent manages staff and handles the implementation of goals.
The district also serves students in Redmond, Kirkland and Woodinville.
