Dr. Hall was a Professor of Hygiene at the University of Washington in 1917 and after returning from War, UW President, Suzallo, officially promoted Dr. Hall to the title of University Health Officer. He was charged with the duty to guard the best health interests of the Student Body, through preventive and isolation medicine. Hall Health was established to be self-supportive and independent of outside hospitals. It is said that the high incidence of skin infections associated with the Old Gymnasium so called
