History
My name is Ed DeVaney. I have been a band instrument repairman since early 2000. My wife Kat DeVaney has a degree in music education and taught band for a couple of years before going back to school for instrument repair. She joined the shop in 2009. We were formerly known as The REPAIR Shoppe, located inside The MUSIC Shoppe on Meridian St. In 2010 The MUSIC Shoppe moved to Burlington and we stayed in Bellingham and changed our name to Wind Works. Since then, with the closing of a couple local music stores and the moving of The MUSIC Shoppe, we noticed some areas of service not being fully met in Whatcom County, so we decided to expand into carrying accessories and rental instruments.
Specialties
Formerly known as the Repair Shoppe, we have a history in Bellingham and the surrounding region of high-quality repair work. We regularly receive and repair instruments from all over the country, specializing in double reeds and saxes. With five repair technicians on staff, we focus solely on wind instruments, and have a good reputation for quick turnarounds and friendly, knowledgeable service. In December 2012, we expanded our business to include band rentals and wind accessories, including professional level mouthpieces and reeds, as well as a full array of wind player needs. Our goal is to offer Whatcom County services that aren't being fully met. With the closing of several music stores lately, we have noticed that few shops carry the level of wind accessories we know wind musicians need. Starting in August 2013, we will carry all of the common beginner band instruments (flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, trombone) as well as uncommon and hard to find rental instruments from beginner to professional level.
