Bellevue College is a public college that offers bachelors, transfer, professional, and technical degrees and certificates. The college was founded in 1966 as Bellevue Community College. According to the college, about 4,000 students are enrolled each quarter to pursue a degree and about 15,000 more enroll for enrichment, job training and other educational reasons.
The institution changed its name in 2009 to reflect that it now offers baccalaureate degrees - in interior design, radiation and imaging sciences. The first Bellevue College baccalaureate degrees were awarded in 2009.
The college still offers general two-year associate degrees, which students can use to transfer to many four-year colleges, and career training for professional certificates. The degrees and certificates include training and classes for professions in the fields of medicine, information technology, business, design, media and criminal justice. The school also offers GED and Adult Basic Education.
The school also caters to working adults by offering distance education, classes at its North Campus at 10700 Northup Way, Bellevue and evening classes.
