History
With the encouragement of his young wife, Alice Marie Young (now 101,) and her father, Peter Morgan (who was affiliated with the Washington Post,) Lehman Harvey Young, Sr. bought his first linotype letterpress machine in 1936 and established The Virginia Press in his family's chicken coop on the family farm in the center of Fairfax City. (That hand-hewn 1911 chicken coop still stands on the property!) We were incorporated in 1970. Our print shop was built in the 1950s, and our office was the Young Family's Horse Carriage Shed (also built in 1911).
