Strongwell was founded in 1924 as a furniture factory. Products were included aircraft, radio and television cabinets. During the 1940's, work in reinforced plastics was started at the plant. In 1959, the company began producing fiberglass ladder rail, which remains a major product. Strongwell is one of the world's largest pultruder of fiber reinforced polymer composites and one of North America's largest polymer concrete precasters. Strongwell has a worldwide customer base and has stocking locations throughout the world. Customers include Fortune 500 industrial and commercial firms, major A&E's, leading contractors and distributors and hundreds of other companies in various markets. The Bristol division is the company's largest manufacturing facility with 350,000 square feet of space and more than 50 pultrusion machines. The corporate offices, including the departments of finance, marketing and human resources, the International Business Group and a laboratory are in this location. The division manufactures molded grating, fabricates fiberglass structures and systems and builds pultrusion equipment and tooling.
