Established in 1999, the Bill of Rights Institute is a nonprofit organization classified by the Internal Revenue Service. The institute develops instructional materials and educational programs on American history and civics for high school teachers and students. It works in partnership with secondary school teachers, video producers, Web site designers, curriculum experts and academicians from the fields of American history, political science and constitutional law. The Bill of Rights Institute s lesson plans cover various topics, such as federalism, religion in schools, criminal procedure, elections propaganda and the freedom of expression. In addition, the institute offers student Web sites and online study guides. It is located in Arlington, Va.
