The National Council on the Aging is a nonprofit network of organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the health and independence of older persons and increasing their continuing contributions to communities, society and future generations. NCOA serves as a national voice and advocate for public policies, societal attitudes and business practices that promote the interests of elderly Americans. It leads campaigns to preserve funding for the Older Americans Act and other government programs that benefit seniors. It also performs public awareness studies and offers employment assistance services to elderly Americans. The organization was founded in 1950 and has more than 3,500 members. NCOA's headquarters are located in Washington, D.C. and it operates regional offices throughout the United States.
