History
Located in Springfield, Virginia, the Mutual Kitchen was created to solve a problem we ourselves encountered in the past as a former food business start-up. Namely, to provide and serve the DMV area with a state-of-the-art shared kitchen for budding and talented food entrepreneurs that lack the capital to build and maintain their own commercial kitchen and lowering the barrier to entry into the food industry. The lack of shared commercial kitchen space was an issue we encountered after we started our company several years ago. While working out of cafeterias and restaurants did allow us to get started, it was not ideal due to the inconsistency in equipment and lack of food storage areas. If we could have found a kitchen rental space that was affordable and reliable, we could have grown faster and saved more money in the long run. The Mutual Kitchen is a shared professional kitchen community that provides food start-ups with the space they need to make great food.
