When Robert J. Murphy purchased a house on Columbia Pike in 1956, it was the fulfillment of a dream. He had given up his brief career in government service because he had always wanted to serve families as a funeral director. With a degree in Mortuary Science, he opened his first funeral chapel. His commitment to compassionate service and personal attention has helped the Murphy Funeral Homes to grow. In 1966, Murphy opened a second location to serve the families of Falls Church.
Today, with two locations, ten licensed funeral directors, and a crematory, Murphy Funeral Homes is still family owned, family operated and committed to the same ideals of service that inspired Murphy's dream more than 40 years ago.
