About the Chefs Executive Chefs and Owners, David and Stacy Gedney, met at the Inn at Little Washington. David, a product of The California Culinary Academy, attributes his love of cooking to his parents: "They are consummate entertainers. I can remember my parents planning menus for dinner parties ; and then making all of the food that my siblings and I could not touch!" David's professional career spans from diners to five-star/five-diamond restaurants. Stacy, like David, grew up in an entertaining home. Stacy's mother had a small cake business ; and Stacy had her own catering business when she was in high school, prepare bagged lunches for local business men and women. She attended The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Also like David, her training was for professional cooking, but she has gravitated toward pastry-making. J's Gourmet was founded in 1992 as a retail wine and gourmet food store offering sandwiches for take-out.
