Founded in 1823, The Library of Virginia supplies research and reference assistance to state officials and provides consulting services to state and local government agencies. It also offers exhibitions, lectures and educational programs. The library operates archives telephone reference, circulation, human resources, publication, public relations and interlibrary loan departments. The Library of Virginia has a collection of books, magazines, newspapers, county and city government records, architectural drawings and plans, maps, posters, prints and engravings, postcards, paintings, sculptures and photographs. It provides legislative, record management, exhibition and special collection services. The library hosts an Annual Virginia Literary Awards Celebration each year and the Circuit Court Records Preservation program. The Library of Virginia is located in Richmond, Va.
