Over forty-five years ago, Hunting Hills country club was conceived in the mind of one of Roanoke Valley's most respected, life-long residents, businessman Gordon Willis, Sr. A visionary with a propensity for achieving the impossible, Mr. Willis labored diligently to create a respite for good golf, tennis, swimming, and social gatherings among those of like interests. Mr. Willis' vision was not a new idea; there were two area private golf and country clubs in Roanoke at the time. However, his vision was one that would create a neighborhood of family and friends who would not only use the upscale Country Club facilities, but would also build their homes around the carefully scuplted and designed Golf Course, in gently rolling hills surrounded by towering virgin forests and natural wildlife.
