History
In 1972, while working full time in the apple industry, Bill Holtzman purchased a small, local Gulf fuel business in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for $37,000, and worked tirelessly in the evenings and on weekends to launch his new business, Holtzman Oil. Today, Holtzman Oil Corp. is a Chevron, BP, Exxon, Texaco, and Liberty supplier in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia, and is one of the largest employers in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Holtzman Propane was started in 1997 by Bill's son, Todd Holtzman, to respond to the need for propane delivery in the area. Todd continues to oversee the propane division, Valley Ice and the HVAC group. Other divisions of the Holtzman Corporation include a bulk and package lubricant business, a fuel transport business, an equipment and construction company, a propane division, HVAC group, a wholesale ice distribution company named Valley Ice, and a restaurant division that operates Denny's and Burger King restaurants.
