History
Master Hidy Ochiai brought the style of karate that we teach from Japan to the US, called Wa-shin Ryu Karate-Do, and established his first school in 1966. Since then, Master Ochiai's highly reputable and internationally respected schools have spread across the country, most recently to Northern Virginia in 2012, when Sensei William Max Winkler came to the area after completing his nine-year apprenticeship directly under Master Ochiai. In the spring of 2014, Sensei Winkler began teaching at our Dojo's first space solely dedicate to martial training at 20604 Gordon Park Square #170 in Old Ashburn and held classes there for 4 years. In 2018, the Dojo moved to our new state-of-the art school, which is 4 times larger, features a traditional wooden floor, and is located at 21140 Ashburn Crossing Drive Suite 150 in Ashburn. On Monday, June 25, 2018 the new Dojo officially opened, and daily classes are being held there today taught both Master Ochiai and Sensei Winkler.
