Our Mission: Diversifying the economy, creating high quality jobs, and providing a future for the families and youth of Franklin and Southampton Franklin Southampton Economic Development, Inc ( FSEDI ), incorporated in August 2005, was created as a new economic development organization that is grounded in city, county and regional cooperation. FSEDI was established to promote, market and oversee the economic development activities for both the independent City of Franklin and Southampton County. Furthermore, we are known as: A private nonprofit corporation uniting City and County efforts with financial support and guidance of the private sector A key marketing and development organization working and collaborating with local, regional and state development organizations A member of Virginia's Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance ( HREDA ). The City of Franklin and Southampton County encompass a geographic area of over 600 square miles within the Hampton Roads Region of southeastern Virginia. The location offers a rich economic heritage in the forestry and agricultural business sectors and is poised to embrace those traditional industry values with a progressive stance toward economic growth, sharing our bright future with new business and industry.
