The Foxfield Racing Association provides on a beautiful landscape the equestrian sport of steeplechasing. The course is handsomely designed to attract trainers and owners of horses so that the jockey and horse have a beautiful ride over lush green turf, fence, brush and timber. The venue at Foxfield also provides space in contained areas, for security purposes and a long held and honored tradition of tailgating. Families, Friends and guests enjoy tailgating with a picnic and a wholesome atmosphere on property nestled below the Blue Ridge Mountains for a day of fun and horse racing. President of Foxfield Races We welcome you to come and enjoy what has become a steeplechasing tradition in the Piedmond of Virginia for over thirty years. Twice each year, a horse race event is held that people come from across our great nation to enjoy a day of five to six horse races. Rooted in old hunt country Virginia, our well-manicured racecourse invites the seasoned and unacquainted ticket holders alike to come and experience a race day to remember. Held once in the fall and once in the spring, our races host a variety of patrons. Foxfield was proud to introduce Family Day in the fall of 1999 with hopes to draw families who enjoy a safe day of horse racing and kid-oriented activities. Over the last ten years Family day has evolved and grown. With a medley of engaging activities such as face painting, fly fishing lessons, Jack Russell terrier races and pony rides, Foxfield is proud to have established a new tradition in Family Day. In the spring a more vivacious crowd gathers including students enjoying their last break before exams as well as cultured supporters of this timeless spring race event. Foxfield is a tailgating event in which patrons bring picnic lunches and goodies to enjoy throughout the race day from the comfort of their purchased space. Those who wish to walk in and join friends are invited to purchase a parking space in the invitation parking where they can walk to the racecourse from a convenient field located at the west side of the Foxfield property. Depending on your desired location, tickets, tents and parking spaces can be purchased online or through the Foxfield Racing Office. We ask that you please review our website for answers to your questions before calling the race office. The fall race is always the last Sunday of September and the spring race is always the last Saturday of April. The Foxfield Racing Association encourages you to add the races to your calendar and continue this occasion for many magical years to come.
