History
When we opened our doors in 1980, we were the very first private mental health group practice in Chesterfield County. From the beginning, we were welcomed with open arms by the Chesterfield Community Mental Health Center, physicians, schools and the community at large. Over the past three decades, we have been an established and highly trusted source for psychological care. In 2001, Family Guidance Centers made another hallmark decision, reaching out to provide mental health services to the underserved community of Powhatan. In 2016, we opened a Midlothian office as well. Throughout the years, Family Guidance Centers of Chesterfield and Powhatan have contributed to the well-being of countless individuals. Our wealth of experience, depth of services, and singular commitment to our clients' well-being has proven to be a solid success story for them and for us.
Specialties
Our confidential approach to effective treatment includes a full range of services to adults, adolescents, and children. Beyond the direct treatment of the individual, we seek to establish consultations with schools, family physicians, psychiatrists, caseworkers, and other significant persons involved in the ongoing care of our client. Effective treatments require the collaborative effort of all caregivers. The treatment process focuses on the enhancement of communication, problem solving and promoting healthy relationships.
