El Pollo Peruano is one of a small chain of Peruvian restaurants in Northern Virginia with its sister store, El Pollo Primero, not far away on Richmond Highway. El Pollo's specialty is pollo a la brassa, char-broiled chicken cooked at high temperatures over 100% natural wood charcoal with no oil or butter. This keeps the chicken low in cholesterol and fats and high in char-broiled taste. Pupusas, quesadillas, fried plantain, tamales, seafood, enchiladas and subs also grace the simple-yet-tasty (and affordable) menu. As a treat, El Pollo offers 12 different flavors of smoothies, from mango to melon.
