Founded in 1979, Salem Elementary School serves more than 650 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It is a part of Spotsylvania County Schools, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools. Salem Elementary is accredited by the Virginia Department of Education. Its staff includes several classroom and resource teachers, special education coordinators and paraprofessionals. The school offers a variety of general academic and extracurricular courses. In addition, the school provides courses in art, music and physical education. Salem Elementary School offers the English for Speakers of Other Language program and offers foreign language sessions in Spanish.
