Historic Cartersville Baptist Church has formally worshipped at this location since 1903, although church members met in private homes as far back as 1863. The current building is the third, completed in 1979, after a fire in 1972 destroyed a building rebuilt in 1951. The town of Cartersville was founded by free African Americans. In 1903, Rose Carter donated her portion of land she inherited from her mother, Bethia Fairfax.
