Brookfield, founded in 1870s, provides community-based residential programs for adolescent females who demonstrate serious behavioral and adjustment problems. It has served a diverse population that includes refugees from Cambodia, Vietnam, Haiti, Ethiopia, Somalia and Cuba. The adolescents are provided with opportunities to participate in the world of art, sculpture, music, theater and dance. The various services offered by Brookfield includes group home cottages, dormitory living program, individual, group and family counseling, independent living skills development, cultural enrichment and positive youth development, vocational development programs and recreational activities. It also offers after care services that includes case management, coordination with community resources, advocacy, academic support, individual counseling, accompaniment and transportation to medical, psychiatric therapy and substance abuse treatment appointments, crisis intervention and independent living skills support. Brookfield is located in Glen Allen, Va.
