Bedford County Sheriff's Office, established in 1754, is a law enforcement agency. With a state-of-the-art E-911 dispatch center, the agency is one of the 51 law enforcement organizations that work in compliance with Commonwealth of Virginia and is accredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission. Located in Bedford, Va., its departments include field, administrative, special investigations and community services. These departments offer a variety of services, such as uniformed patrol, civil process, courtroom security, maritime lake patrol, animal control, neighborhood watch, crime prevention, narcotics, illegal gaming and vice activities, crimes against children, internal affairs and high-tech investigations.
