The City of Rutland Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and operation of city streets, sanitary sewer collection mains, storm sewer systems and water distribution mains. It supervises various divisions, such as city forester and arborist, meter, sewer collection, streets, water distribution and engineering, as well as plants for wastewater treatment and water filtration. The department administers pumping stations, reservoirs and water storage facilities. The City of Rutland Department of Public Works also assists other departments that include emergency management, building and zoning, police, fire and recreation. The department offers technical and logistic support to the Rutland Redevelopment Authority and the Downtown Partnership. It provides tree planting, drinking water contaminant monitoring, leak repair, snow removal, storm sewer cleaning, pothole patching, fence building and fire hydrant maintenance. The department is located in Rutland, Vt.
