The Chittenden County Transportation Authority was chartered in 1973 by the Vermont General Assembly. It is a bus transit authority that provides services to the communities of Burlington, Essex, South Burlington, Shelburne, Williston, Winooski, Milton and Colchester throughout Chittenden County in Vermont. The authority offers fixed-route, demand response, commuter shuttle and paratransit services. It additionally provides shuttle services to the University of Vermont, Fletcher Allen Health Care and Champlain College, as well as the American Red Cross through the Campus Area Transportation Management Association. The authority offers transportation solutions for students to Burlington schools. It has a contract agreement with the Special Services Transportation Agency to provide special van services for individuals with disabilities. The authority offers advertisement and campaigning services. The Chittenden County Transportation Authority also operates between Washington and Franklin counties in Vermont.
