The Utah Division of Water Rights is a state agency that regulates the appropriation and distribution of water resources in Utah. It is responsible for maintaining public records for information pertaining to water rights. The division regulates dam safety, stream channel alterations and well drilling programs. The Utah Division of Water Rights undertakes the drilling, construction, deepening, repair, renovation, replacement, cleaning, development and abandonment of various wells. It is responsible for licensing requirements and well constructions. The division also promulgates the administrative rules for water well drillers. It is a division of the Department of Natural Resources. The Utah Division of Water Rights is located in Salt Lake City.
