The Salt Lake City Planning Division is a branch of the Community Development Department operated by the government of Salt Lake City in Utah. The division is responsible for creating land use development codes and their implementation. It primarily reviews applications and construction projects that are required to obtain approval, such as variances to the zoning ordinance, rezoning requests, conditional use requests and subdivision approval. The Planning Division is also responsible for protecting neighborhoods and sites in the City and reviews applications for modifying locally designated historic structures as well. In addition, the division oversees the creation of the Zoning Ordinance and the Master Plan policies.
