The Columbus Community Center serves people with disabilities by providing residential services, day activity programs, training and employment services. The center serves people from 16 to retirement age. Columbus Residential Services include three levels of support that can help make the transition of living in home environments to more independent living situations. Those levels include residential homes, supervised apartments and the supported living program. The center also offers day activities and training and employment services. The Community Foundation for the Disabled was founded in 1968 by a group of parents who wanted more and better choices for their disabled children. The CFD in collaboration with the Salt Lake City School District operates the Columbus Community Center.
