West Memorial Junior High is a part of the Katy Independent School District, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools. Founded in 1976, West Memorial Junior High serves students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as math, English, science and social studies. The school conducts sessions in bilingual education and offers the English as a Second Language program. In addition, West Memorial Junior High supports a variety of extracurricular programs in arts and crafts, band, choir and orchestra. It also conducts sessions in industrial arts and home economics and provides foreign language programs in Spanish. The school supports several sports activities, such as football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf, and track and field. Located in Katy, Texas, West Memorial Junior High operates various student organizations, including the National Honor Society, a student council, pep squad and cheerleading team.
