Founded in 1968, East Texas Medical Center EMS is one of the largest rural ambulance services in the United States. It serves more than 15 counties in an area of over 15,000 square miles. The facility operates a fleet of nearly 80 ambulances and helicopters. East Texas Medical Center EMS maintains emergency communication systems and uses the global positioning satellite technology. It has Lifepak 12 with biphasic defibrillation, capnography, and 12-lead and rapid sequence intubation capabilities. The facility serves the residents of Waco, Hewitt, Beverly Hills, Robinson, Lacy Lakeview, Bellmead and Woodway in Texas. East Texas Medical Center EMS responds to more than 130,000 calls for service annually. It is part of the ETMC Regional Healthcare System, which operates over 10 hospitals, nearly 30 clinics and centers of excellence for cancer and heart care, neuroscience, rehabilitation, urology and behavioral health.
