Established in 1995, the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, also known as TMAC, is an organization that works to strengthen the economy by providing business practice consulting and technical assistance to Texas manufacturers. It is a part of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership, a program run by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which helps small- and medium-sized manufacturers. TMAC assists Texas manufacturers in reducing costs, increasing profits, and improving quality, performance and productivity. Its services include facility layout, planning and design, process assessment and improvement, quality system training and implementation, information systems software selection, lean manufacturing training and product development. TMAC provides services to the metalworking, food processing, electronics, plastics and apparel industries. It maintains locations in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Edinburg, College Station, Fort Worth and Lubbock, Texas.
