The English Merchant's Inn opened in March of 2016 during the centennial year for the home which was built in 1916 by James Wright Harrison. Mr. Harrison, an English cotton merchant, built the home for his wife who he brought to Waxahachie from Manchester, England at a time when Waxahachie was the center of the leading cotton producing area in the country. The Innkeeper, Mary Baskin, wishes to share this beautiful historic mansion with her guests and provide them with an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of 21st century life.
