Texas Panhandle Mental Health Mental Retardation, also known as TPMHMR, was founded in 2000 by the merger of the Texas Panhandle Mental Health Authority and the Amarillo State Center. It serves People with mental illnesses and retardation problems, as well as children with developmental disabilities. Its children s services include nutritional counseling, speech, occupational and physical therapies, and treatment options for attention deficit and oppositional defiant disorders. TPMHMR provides day training, language therapy, behavioral support, assessment, residential counseling, audiology, monitoring, and crisis prevention and management services for with people with mental disabilities. It also offers mental health treatments for patients who suffer from schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and depression. Texas Panhandle Mental Health Mental Retardation maintains one of its centers in Pampa, Texas.
