The Texas Academy of Figurative Art, founded in 2007 by Ron A. Cheek, offers an atelier experience and a classical approach to fine art education, integrating Old Master working methods with a contemporary realist approach. With a primary emphasis on rendering the human figure accurately from direct observation, TAFA aims to educate and develop artists in the figurative tradition, equipping them with the skills needed to express their personal artistic vision.
Supported in part by a grant from the Arts Council of Fort Worth, the Texas Academy of Figurative Art admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin, providing them with all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, and other school-administered programs.
