Southwestern Energy Company was organized in 1929 as a natural gas distribution company in Arkansas. It is engaged in natural gas and oil exploration, development and production in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. The company conducts its exploration and production activities through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Southwestern Energy Production Company and SEECO. Its utility subsidiary, Arkansas Western Gas Company, is engaged in the gathering, distribution and transmission of natural gas to nearly 150,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in northern Arkansas. The company s Midstream Services segment markets its own gas production and third-party natural gas and transports natural gas to market. Its Southwestern Energy Services Company subsidiary engages in marketing and transportation activity. In 2004, the company formed DeSoto Gathering Company to engage in gathering activities related to the development of the Fayetteville Shale play. Southwestern Energy Company has headquarters in Houston and offices in Fayetteville, Ark.
