The SPCAA Head Start is a child development program for three- and four-year old children of low-income families. It provides opportunities to learn basic social concepts, develop self-esteem, function in a school atmosphere and develop basic concepts of learning. The program also helps parents to become self-sufficient and develop life skills. The SPCAA Head Start program serves Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Terry, and Yoakum counties in Texas. It is located in Levelland, Texas, and is operated by South Plains Community Action Association, which is a nonprofit organization that provides various health and child care services. The organization also offers home health services that include nursing care and physical, speech and occupational therapies.
