Smith Elementary School, founded in 1987, is affiliated with the Lubbock Independent School District. The school is located in Lubbock, Texas, and is named after former Texas Governor Preston Smith. It offers a variety of educational and cocurricular programs to students in prekindergarten through grade five. Smith Elementary School s core curriculum includes English, arts, science, social studies, mathematics and physical education. The school also provides counseling, preschool, middle childhood, computer education, language retraining, music, speech and accelerated reader programs. Its curriculum also includes reading, writing, spelling, phonics, guidance and counseling, and technology and computer education programs. Smith Elementary School also offers a parent-teacher association.
