Our company began in the year 1918, in a small Mexican town by the name of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. My great grandfather began as the town painter at a time when tinting colors and fundamental essential elements necessary to do good work, had not yet been invented. He worked for many years painting murals and ceilings for several churches in the area. Making colors out of raw minerals and flower blooms, he would utilize his vision of holy sanctities to express his work. Some of these works still exist, although severely weathered, you can still appreciate the true nature of his ambition. These works are truly inspiring, and to look upon them and realize the true history behind our company is a feeling of prestige and respect surpassed by very few things in this world. During the first quarter of this century, painting was considered an art. As many artists and artisans of the time, my great grandfather and his family lived in poverty. He would work long hours for just enough money to put food on the table. He was a very proud father to eighteen children and was doing his very best to raise his family in an extremely volatile time in Mexico's history. You see, Mexico was in the middle of a revolution. My great grandfather was of course an active participant of the revolutionary party and well to make matters short, they were all literally run out of Mexico with families in hand fleeing to safety. As fate would have it, they arrived to settle in a small town known as San Antonio, Texas. Here, my grandfather was born. Being 1 of 18 children, mostly women, he was burdened at a very young age to go out and work to help support his family. He worked for many years for other painters here in Texas and realized very quickly that painting here was different. It had developed as a need for contract work and even established painters did not have the background to truly overcome certain problems that they encountered. At the age of 16 he began his painting company as a troubleshooting business to address these needs. He established himself as a competent entity in the area and did very well. He quickly realized that in order to make money in this field, it was necessary to expand and evolve. San Antonio was not necessarily in need of artisans; they were in need of production labor. He developed a strategy and spent several years traveling around the state painting and maintaining water towers. He eventually ended up here in Houston, Texas, in the early 1950's. It was here that his company would establish itself and grow strong roots for many generations to come. For the next 38 years, Martinez Painting Companies took on many different names, yet all still bearing the name Paul Martinez, Hugo Martinez or Martinez Painting. My father, Paul Martinez Jr., began his company under Paul Martinez Jr. Painting Company in the year 1967. Between he, my uncle and my grandfather, they painted literally thousands of homes and businesses in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area. In the early 1990's this company consisted of 5 separate companies, all bearing the name of Martinez Painting. It employed approximately 120 painters and daily addressed the needs of hundreds of clients. Many of these clients we still service today. We realize that life is not just about going to work every day. With many of our long-term clients, it has become a moral and ethical responsibility both to maintain the level of our quality and to maintain the relationship itself. After all, if it were not for our clients, this company would have faded in time as have many of our competitors. Today our company is based in Katy, Texas. For the past forty years we have been fortunate enough to have worked in just about every subdivision in the area. Many of the people that we see every day, we have worked for in some way or another. We are thankful to everyone for the many years of service with which we have been blessed. As fourth generation paint contractors, we give homage and t
