PFS was started after its founder, Paula Smith, spent years in the heavy construction business. Looking for a solution to the large void in communication that led to many problems, Ms. Smith discovered construction partnering advocacy. This began her development of construction partnering for federal, state and heavy construction projects. Partnering for Success was launched in 1993. PFS workshops are designed to allow members of a project to meet in a neutral setting and work out any potential problems and form a working relationship built on mutual respect. With the success of her Partnering Workshops in Texas and six other states, Paula began adding other programs to help the industry, such as communication skills and team leadership development. One of the keys to our success, reports Paula, is the ongoing relationship we form with each Partnering entity. We are there for them, when they need us, whether it is at the beginning of a project, or for a quick intervention to get people and projects back on track.
