The Millett Opera House, located in downtown Austin, Texas, is a historic building originally constructed in 1878 by local lumber seller Charles Millett. Designed by architect Frederick Ruffini, it was once one of the largest performance spaces in Texas, featuring 800 removable seats and 24-inch limestone walls.
Today, the opera house is home to the Austin Club, a local private social club that purchased and renovated the building in 1979. While the original performance space has been removed, a portion of the hand-painted ceiling still remains in one of the meeting rooms, preserving a piece of the building's rich history.
