Marcus High School offers educational instruction to students from grades nine through 12. The school enrolls more than 2,500 students and is governed by the Lewisville Independent School District. Founded in 1981, the school got its name from Edward S. Marcus, part of the Marcus family known for the Neiman-Marcus department stores, who donated the land to the school district. It offers classes in art, athletics, business, English, language arts, Spanish, French, German, Latin, health, physical education, industrial arts, journalism, mathematics, band, choir, science, social studies, special education, theatre arts, computer education, home economics and cooperative education. It has a student-to-teacher ratio of 25 to 1. The school has athletic teams for different sports, including football, basketball, cross country, track and field, soccer, swimming, golf, tennis, wrestling, baseball and softball. Marcus High School is located in Flower Mound, Texas. Its mascot is the Marauder whose imagery mimics the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
